About Shaileendra

Shaileendra Pandey is an Operating Advisor at WestBridge Capital and is currently based out of Bangalore. He brings to the table over 16 years of rich experience in the retail sector. At WestBridge, Shaileendra is involved in efforts to partner with consumer-tech companies and is constantly seeking to better his knowledge. He is passionate about the FMCG and retail arena, and consumer and agricultural technology.

Before joining us, he was Vice President - FMCG, Food and Groceries at India’s leading food and grocery retailer, D Mart (Avenue Supermarts Ltd). He spent close to 5 years at D Mart, managing buying, merchandising, deploying in-store executions, and replenishing the food and groceries vertical for their offline stores, as well as their online business.

Prior to his D Mart stint, Shaileendra worked with retail giants like Aditya Birla Retail, Metro Cash and Carry and Reliance Retail across different B2C and B2B formats such as supermarkets, hypermarkets, and discount, and wholesale stores. He has led large teams, been accountable for profit and loss, and parallelly managed strategic vendor partnerships and business deliverables.

Shaileendra’s retail philosophy is about extending to customers all that they love to buy and experience in the most cost-efficient manner. Do this and the rest will follow is his firm belief. Before embarking on his retail journey, he worked in the FMCG sector at Hindustan Uni Lever and Blue Star Ltd, managing sales and distribution in select geographies.

Shaileendra holds an MBA from Pune University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Mathematics and Statistics from Mumbai University. He also successfully completed an executive program in supply chain management from the Indian Institute of Management - Calcutta.
