About Piyush

Piyush believes in the power of simplicity. It is this belief that has driven his career and life choices.

Piyush is an Operating Advisor at WestBridge, Bangalore. He believes that this is India’s century and looks forward to helping portfolio companies achieve their full potential, especially when it comes to people and staffing.

Before gracing the corridors of WestBridge, he was the Chief People Officer-India at the Compass Group, a British Food and Support Services Company. He led the creation of a ‘talent factory’ to reduce dependence on external talent for the company's tangential growth.

Prior to his Compass stint, Piyush was hand-picked to make a difference at Vishal Mega Mart as their Chief HR officer. Over a decade, he radically transformed the HR policy of the company, saved the business and, in the process, also provided opportunities to more than a 1000 differently abled people.

Before his Vishal Mega Mart stint, Piyush was with HCL Technologies as HR Head in their Infrastructure Division. Here, Piyush met and managed the challenge of acquiring and retaining talent in their 24/7 IT Services operation.

Piyush completed his master’s degree from XLRI, Jamshedpur and joined Gillette as a Management Trainee. Over the next decade, he took on successively complex roles in diverse projects both in India and the UK.

Piyush now lives in Bangalore with his wife and two daughters. His interests are as diverse as his work portfolio and include travel, music, sports, and current affairs.
